Holmestead Farm U-Pick

U-Pick & We-Pick Apples, Figs, and Peaches. Scuppernongs are coming in. Muscadines not far behind. Time to order your strawberry plants coming in September. Time to start thinking about ordering trees and fruit vines delivering in January 2018.

Zucchini Bread, Apple Bread, Strawberry Bread, Peach Bread, Blueberry Bread, Pumpkin Bread, and Blackberry Bread.

We have frozen strawberries from this past season! Perfect for those summer recipes.

Remember, picking times and availability can change depending on weather. We update our website and Facebook page on a regular basis so visit these often especially if you are driving a long distance.

Forms of payment: We accept cash, local checks, MC, VISA, Discover, SNAP (Food Stamps) Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks and Senior SFMNP checks.

Time to order your 2018 strawberry plants.

We will be ordering our supply of 2018 strawberry season plants very soon. You might as well get yours, too, while we are ordering. We plant in the fall – you should, too. So determine your strawberry needs, then call Bobby Ray Holmes at 256-404-4316 or Strawberry orders will require a deposit.

Time to think about placing your orders for the trees and fruit vines you want to plant in winter 2018.

It may seem early to think about this but it’s not. We will soon start ordering fruit trees, nut trees, flowering trees, and fruit vines for out BIG annual winter Tree and Plant sale that will begin in January 2018. We can order anything you desire. Looking for large quantities? We can work on some discounts for large orders of trees and plants. Start thinking about what you want and need and call us and place your order. Have questions? WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are seeking Sour Crab Apple plants or seeds.

Do you have some sour crab apple trees on your property? If so, are there young plants that have sprung up near the base of the tree? If so, we’d like to purchase some from you. Or, maybe you have some crab apples where we can get some seeds from you and propagate into trees.

We get a lot of requests for the sour variety of crab apple trees and our nursery sources just don’t offer them. So, we’re hoping our loyal fans and customers can help us out. If you can, please call Bobby Ray Holmes at 256-404-4316. And thanks in advance for the assistance.

We have small wagons you can pull through the fields and rows, a comfortable rest area in the shade, clean restrooms, and soft drinks for only 50¢ each, and bottled water and a variety of snacks for only 25¢ each. So don’t rush …. make time to really enjoy your visit to our farm. We can’t wait to see you soon!

If you have a group, adults or children, that would like to visit the farm to pick or for educational purposes, give us a call and we will work to accommodate your schedule. We also have a very nice, large room at our produce shed that we let groups like Garden Clubs use for meetings and gatherings. Give us a call if interested in using it. At Holmestead Farm you can go into our fields and vineyards and pick your own organic-fertilized and pesticide-free berries and fruit or buy it “ready-to-go” at our fruit shed. In season, we offer the finest tasting blackberries, blueberries and grapes in this part of Alabama. And we have muscadines, scuppernongs and lots of different fruit tress  … all pesticide free. Plus, we’re always expanding our vegetable offerings.
